IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT
Scientists now realize that over thousands of years
nature programmed us to put on weight at times of plenty, so we
could live through seasonal periods when food was scarce. Our problem
is that food is not scarce at any time anymore. Those of us who
put on weight easily are the "normal people", and we would
have lasted through times when food was scarce. My wife can eat
all the chocolates she wants without putting on weight and all her
friends envy her for that. With that kind of metabolism thousands
of years ago she would not have lasted until the seasonal food supply
was more plentiful again.
A growing body of evidence tells us that some people
have a faster metabolism and others have a slower and more efficient
metabolism. Some people can eat what they want and do not put on
weight regardless of how much they eat. Most overweight people have
known this all along. However, we can overcome this slow metabolism
problem by eating the right foods until we are full, provided we
don't stuff ourselves. There is no need to go hungry at any time.
In fact it is counter productive if you want to lose weight, because
you will overeat later on when you are hungry. Many overweight people
will say this is the best news they have ever heard.
Here is the proof!
A very recent statistic of obesity says,
- In 1950 25% of North Americans were overweight..
- In 1999 it has increased to 50%.
- By 2025 a whopping 75% will be overweight
These three percentages show that despite spending
$40 billion for diets in North America we are losing the battle.
The most alarming part is the ratio of overweight and obese people
is increasing faster and faster. Some blame this trend on the increase
of living standard and others blame the advertising pressure of
the fast food industry as well as pop drink advertising. The only
way to stop this trend is to ACCEPT THE REASONS AND ACT ON IT:

Because we can afford it we eat too
much meat, eggs, dairy products and sweets. To top it
off, we drink pop with our meals. These are the foods
that make us fat.

We go on quickie diets to get our
weight down so we can resume our fattening life style
all over again. We have to change our conventional eating
choices.

We neglect to eat what our body needs,
which is carbohydrates, vegetables, fruit and drink water.
These are the foods that make us slim and healthy. We
can eat them until we are full. |

Once we understand the reasons for being
overweight, we can make changes. It will only take a few
weeks to acquire new habits and tastes. With the help
