FACTS
Diet-related diseases account for 68% of all deaths
said Dr. C. Everett Koop, former Surgeon General of USA. People
kill themselves with overeating and eating the wrong foods. In North
America very few, if any, die of hunger. However, millions die from
the effects of overeating - from too much of the "good life".
Wisdom of life is very lopsided, if it does not include healthy
eating. Nutritional education has been lagging behind partly because
of special interest groups. This is manifested by the number of
people being overweight. A recent survey in a women's magazine revealed
that a massive 84% of women believe that they are too fat.
Food industry advertising
Here is an example how the advertising of the food industry can
change our eating habits. Knowing now that animal fat is not good
for you, people started to eat less butter. As a consequence the
dairy industry started a TV advertising campaign to eat more butter.
Later on they proudly anounced that it increased sales of butter
by a huge 10%. Are we being influenced to eat more fattening foods?
Look at the March 2000 issue of Reader's Digest: Out of a total
of 13 full page food ads 9 (nine) are for milk and cheese, 1 for
beef and 1 for eggs. In the April issue there are 17 full page food
ads. 12 (twelve) are for milk and cheese, 1 for beef and 1 for eggs.
On the positive side: 2 ads are for low-fat and low sodium soups,
1 ad for low fat snacks and 1 ad for pasta. Not a single ad for
the less fattening foods like grains, beans, vegetables and fruits.
Draw your own conclusions from this.
Where I live a brand new hamburger and adjacent
donut franchise was built. The same fast food chain said in an interview
that they have a schedule for the rest of the year to open up many
more outlets. Our problem is we can afford it and it is convenient
on the way to work. For those who go there frequently it is a virtual
guarantee that they will be overweight, if not in one year, over
a period of a couple of years for sure.
We are listening to advertisers and to traditional
tales that it is good for us to drink more milk, pop, eat more butter,
hard cheese, meat, French fries, hamburgers, hot dogs and donuts.
Nutritional experts listed in these pages have been telling us for
YEARS these foods and the amount we eat are the reason why we are
overweight, having clogged arteries, heart attacks and a host of
other illnesses. They also say a high intake of the popular dietary
animal protein foods (meat, milk, cheeses) can increase the loss
of calcium, especially in older people, and this may raise the risk
of osteoperosis. You figure out who you should listen to.
Our body knows automatically what to do with the excess food we
eat.
It stores the excess in fat for the bad times that our bodies were
used to go through a few thousand years ago. Most of us were raised
to always finish off our plates. It was always good manners not
to leave food on your plate. It was this "Don't waste good
food", which dates back a few hundred years when food for many
people was scarce. Even when we felt full, we would finish off that
plate. Just add up those leftovers, which we should have left on
the plate. It would amount to quite a number of pounds of overweight
you carry around all the time. From now on DON'T finish that plate
if you feel you are full. Parents, stop eating what the kids left
on their plates. You may have been putting on weight over a number
of years. Take it off over a number of months or over a period of
a whole year. Don't crash diet. Visualize a red light is coming
on, when you feel the first signs of fullness in your stomach. Packing
in more after that is the same as going through a red light and
means disaster for your stored fat, health and looks.
Mother nature is more powerful than
diets!
This is the reason why most diets and most people fail. This is
the frustrating "yo-yo" effect of conventional diets.
Frequently people end up weighing more than they did before. There
is only one logical way that everybody can understand to keep your
weight down: To eat a little less and and change a few bad eating
habits. This is exactly what our PATCH helps you to do. It does
it in a natural way without side effects.
How you can gain a pound a week
A friend of mine said he is eating about 3 cookies a day, because
in his cafeteria they are there free for the taking. It may seem
trivial. However, 3 cookies a day x 20 days = 60 cookies a month.
60 cookies loaded with sugar and fat = 1 lb of stored body fat.
Multiply this with 12 or 24 or 36 months and you are looking at
a figure you don't like. This does not apply to cookies only. It
applies to all excess food eaten on a daily basis. You can gain
one pound a week in body fat by eating one eight ounce sirloin steak
a day for one week, or one bowl of icecream, or four tablespoons
of olive oil, or blue cheese dressing or cheddar cheese on your
sandwiches will do the same within one week. You can gain one pound
a week or 52 pounds a year. All nutritionalists tell us, and we
know it ourselves quite well, that if the input of calories is greater
than what our body needs, it will store it as fat. The Bell patch
will help you break that habit of eating more than you need. You
will be more conscious about the food you eat and savour it more.
The more you eat, the more weight
you lose
Vegetables are the neglected slimming food. "Eat more vegetables"
may sound to a committed meat eater like swearing in church. However,
it is the wonder food that actually makes you lose weight while
you fill your stomach. Before you eat the meat, have a large salad
plate of lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, radishes, carrots
with no-fat dressing. (Restaurants do not have no-fat dressing.
Bring your own small bottle.) After you ate the large plate of salad
you are less likely to overeat with meat. The secret is to fill
your stomach with non-fattening food. If you do not respect the
power of the stomach, you will eventually lose the battle. If you
understand this principle that you cannot cheat and must fill your
stomach with non-fattening food, you will win for sure, You still
need the patch so that you do not overeat in general. Regardless
what you eat, if you stuff yourself you will put on weight.
Eat many vegetables raw, whenever possible. Raw
vegetables burn more calories during digestion and help you to lose
weight. Learn how to steam vegetables so that they are crisp and
delicious. Don't overcook them. Buy a collapsible metal steamer
in the hardware store that fits into your cooking pot. Use only
an inch or two of water.
Stomach is more powerful than brain
Find out which is smarter, your brain or your stomach. If you promptly
think your brain is smarter, you may underestimate the power of
the stomach in the long run. It is better to make peace by feeding
your stomach 3 full meals a day (Put about 1/3 less on your plate
than what you used to pile on) and at least 3 snacks that you both
like, your brain and your stomach.
Arthritis and being overweight
I know a 22 year old girl who has bad knees from carrying around
an excess 50 lbs. If this happens to a young girl, it is a lot worse
for older people to be overweight, as some of their joints have
worn cartilage. 70% of people over 50 have bad joints and developed
arthritis pain. Thousands have this arthritis problem already in
their forties. All health professionals tell you that excess weight
will be bad for your heart, blood pressure, joints, pretty well
all body organs.
