With the cold and flu season approaching I thought I would share some information on a widely overlooked or just plain unknown form of activity that can dramatically improve your bodies resistance and overall health. Among it’s many benefits, we will investigate how it positively affects one part of your body’s defenses that is not really emphasized or talked about much…the lymphatic system.

It’s been said that if the lymphatic system is functioning at it’s maximum potential it’s almost impossible to get sick. Dr. Arthur C. Guyton, author of the well-known textbook Medical Physiology, notes that if our lymphatic system stopped circulating, we’d die within 24 hours. Pretty profound wouldn’t you say? Let’s look into this incredibly important system of our body that is almost completely ignored in your health care plan and how we can get it functioning at it’s best.

There is so much emphasis on our blood and circulation in regards to our health but there is actually about four times more lymph fluid than blood in our body! The lymphatic system bathes every cell, carrying nutrients to them but it is extremely important for the elimination of waste from them and for immune function in our body.

In contrast to blood, which is pumped by the heart, the lymph is totally dependent on physical exercise to move. If you do not move your body, the cells will be surrounded in their own waste products and starving for nutrients, which contributes to arthritis, cancer and other degenerative diseases as well as aging.

So, what is a fun and easy solution? I recommend to all my patients that they should purchase a mini trampoline / rebounder to accomplish this in the best way. (Don’t get ‘cheap’ versions found in sport or department stores, I personally think the ‘Cellerciser’ rebounder by David Hall is the best)

Nothing stimulates the lymphatic system better than rebounding vigorously which is reported to increase lymph flow by 15 to 30 times. The up and down movement creates pressure changes in the body, breaks up blockages, and causes millions of one-way valves to open and close. This activates an internal vacuum system of suction to flush and eliminate viruses, germs, bacteria, dead cells, mutant cells, fungus, cancerous cells, and other foreign invaders.

A one-minute sprint on a Cellerciser can increase the circulation of white blood cells 10 to 15 times. It’s like giving yourself a natural antibiotic every morning.
