In
25 years from now people will look back to 2007 and say
how was it possible that people were so backward and did
not know anything about their body’s pH. At a recent
physical my own family doctor did not check my pH and was
not interested. Many men and women know that you have to
maintain a proper pH balance in your swimming pool and hot
tub to make it work properly. A survey showed that very
few know that it’s still far more important to check
the pH of your body to prevent discomforts and disease.
The knowledge has been around for years how to prevent many
discomforts and diseases, such as acidic stomach (you may
not need anti-acid pills), stress, tiredness, depression,
weight gain, vascular diseases, cancer is unlikely to grow
in an alkaline balanced body say many health experts. Changes
are coming. However, they are so slow to get through to
the majority of men and women as well as health professionals.
It was relayed to me by a friend that a women that went
through breast cancer treatment was instructed by her doctor
to keep her body in an alkaline balanced state to help to
prevent recurrence of the cancer.
Almost every day there are news items that we make great
efforts at huge expenses to reduce the waiting time for
medical treatments. Virtually no efforts are made and virtually
no money is spent to prevent illness. Hopefully in 25 years
things will have improved a lot. In the meantime those that
want to do something have the opportunity with this alkaline
product that happens to be also very inexpensive.

We are raised to wish each other good health and do nothing
about it ourselves - until we get sick. Then we go to the
doctor and get drugs or have surgeries. For many people,
preventing an illness has never been an issue and still
isn't. Cures are uncertain, painful and expensive. Prevention
is best! It's only about a dozen years ago that
the Toronto Star newspaper printed a head line reporting
that a local medical convention keynote speaker said, "We
are not in the prevention business". Things have not
changed much since. When it comes to preventing an illness,
it's your responsibility. At a recent physical check-up
my own doctor did not check , and was not interested in,
the acid or alkaline balance of my body. I know of a women
who went through breast cancer treatment, and her doctor
now advises her to keep her body in a pH neutral alkaline
balance. It may take some time before more doctors are advising
their patients about the importance of keeping their bodies
in a pH neutral alkaline balance.
We have two major
preventive systems in our body that can prevent many or
most illnesses and we should maintain these two systems.
Arthur Schoppenhauer said: "All truth passes through
three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently
opposed. Third, it is accepted as self-evident." We
believe, for most people, it will be selfevident to prefer
to prevent diseases.

non-acidic stomach and an alkaline balanced body
can prevent many common diseases states Dr. C. Hammoud, M.H.,
PhD. Most men and women in North America eat 80% acid producing
foods, like sugar (worst), red meat, dairy products, white
bread & noodles, white rice, chips, cola soda pop, coffee,
alcohol, drugs and at best 20% alkaline foods (vegetables
and fruit). It should be the other way around.
The new Canada Food Guide
2007 is moving in that direction by recommending to eat more
vegetables and fruits than other food groups. Surprisingly,
most people know you need a pH neutral alkaline swimming pool
for it to work well. However, few are aware that it is more
important still to have an alkaline neutral body to help to
prevent discomforts and diseases. These are signs of an acidic
body: acidic stomach (you should not need anti-acid pills),
reflux, stress (a killer), tiredness, low nergy, indigestion
and weight gain. PH imbalance may create conditions in the
body for diabetes, vascular diseases, arthritis, and cancer,
which is unlikely to grow in an alkaline balanced body as
stated by many health professionals, and a long list of other
diseases. Read what they write on the internet on this subject,

with a proper diet, a change to eating more vegetables and

Eat more alkaline foods |
Most
people may not be willing to make radical changes in their
diet. However, a few changes should be made to achieve your
goal. You need some acidic foods. The ideal would be 80% alkaline
foods and 20% acidic foods. Everybody can make some changes
and with the help of Bell Acidic Stomach / Alkaline Balance
#39, virtually all people should be able to get into the ideal
pH alkaline balance after some experimentation with foods
and the number of supplement capsules they need.
The Canada Food Guide
2007 has now been published and it recommends
vegetables and fruits as the most important foods to eat,
which will help to get closer to a pH neutral alkaline balance.
Second category is grain products. Milk & alternatives
are third and meat & alternatives are fourth. The previous
food guide was obviously not good. otherwise the number of
overweight people would not have been increasing every year.
In 2006 we were at 67%. We will find out how much better the
new Food Guide is, when we see whether the percentage of overweight
people will go up or down. Nutrition experts predicted by
2010 over 85% will be overweight. Acidity of the body or a
pH alkaline balance is of no interest at the present time
by the overnment. Neither is there any concern about toxins
(mould) in the grains we eat. Yet, tens of thousands of men,
women and children are sick right now in North America from
either cause or both.
First option: If, after testing,
you find that your body is acidic, you can go by the simple
rule to start eating a lot more green vegetables and fruit.
Depending on how much you have to change your diet and how
much you want to change, you can add Bell Acidic Stomach/Alkaline
Balance #39. A few people will get away with 2 capsules a
day for a start. Most will need 4-6 capsules a day until they
reach the desired alkalinity balance. You have to experiment
depending on your present acidity level and your diet. It
may take a short time or it may take a few months to reach
the desired alkalinity balance. It will help if you go by
this basic rule: reduce or eliminate sugar (worst), cakes,
pastry, red meat, white bread & noodles, white rice, dairy
products, chips, all soft drinks (drink water instead), coffee

Hippocrates said: "Let food be your medicine. Let medicine
be your food." All new medical doctors are sworn in by
this Hippocrates oath with the added words: "Do no harm."
You have to wonder whether this oath is taken seriously enough,
if according to the FDA Office, doctors prescribed one arthritis
drug that caused 139,000 heart attacks and strokes - over
30% or over 40,000 of them fatal in USA and prorated over
4000 in Canada.
Second option: If you are willing
to read more about an acidic body and alkaline balance, go
on the internet. There is a vast amount of information to
be found there. The acidity in your body creates toxin wastes
that are stored in your organs and tissues everywhere in your
body. Controlling acidity is more important than calories,
cholesterol, blood pressure, fat, hormone levels and blood
sugar, says one expert in his book. Our body will try to maintain
a pH neutral alkalinity in our blood and will rob calcium
from our bones, and vitamins and minerals stored in our tissues
to do so. Because of this, regardless how many supplements
we take, we may be deficient in basic nutrients. If our body is polluted with acidic wastes, it becomes the
source of sickness and disease. Every cell in your body is
affected by this acidity. Alkaline tissue holds 20 times more
oxygen than does acidic tissue and this oxygen rich environment
is critical for maintaining health and reducing the risk of
disease (anaerobic bacteria, viruses, fungi, cancer etc.)
One author compares the acidic body with a dirty fish tank.
A Berkeley University Health Newsletter writes: "An acidic
body is perhaps the cause of most diseases from arthritis
and cancer to depression and diabetes". Brendan Brazier,
author of health books, says in an Alive Magazine article:
"Disease is rare in an alkaline body. Cancer, for example,
cannot develop in an alkaline environment".
One internet listing asks, "Can an imbalanced pH cause
serious problems? Yes, especially older people will be accumulating
over the years the side effects of having an acidic body,
including cardiovascular disease (#1 killer), cancer (#2 killer,
costing the Canadian health care system $14 billion dollars,
$140 billion in USA) and diabetes (costs the Canadian taxpayers
$13 billion dollars, $130 billion in USA). Also, there is
a systemic weight gain due to an acidic body. You will find
the same message on many web sites."
Third option: Buy books about the
pH balance with mostly vegetarian recipes. You will have to
be prepared for a fundamental change of diet, if you want
this. The author of one of the books keeps a big container
of prepared salads in the fridge with vegetables, sprouts,
red onions, pine nuts, tofu cubes, shredded carrot, beet,
and radishes and adds legumes or grains as needed for a snack
or meal. He talks about baked sprouted tortillas, raw almonds,
raw veggies and baked tofu.

Things you may want to know:

Some food experts said microwaving foods destroys enzymes,
decreases the nutritional value of vitamins and minerals.
Because of this, microwave ovens are outlawed in some parts
of the world. It will take time to find out what is true and
how critical it is. Better steam your vegetables with very
little water. You can buy wire inserts for any size of cooking
pot in the hardware store so that vegetables are not submerged
in water.
#2. What is still more critical for eating healthy is this:
Grains are starting a process of fermenting 90 days after
harvesting, says the author of a book, which produces toxins
(mould). Proof of this fact is in the news. In October 2006,
the Hamilton Spectator newspaper reports a shipment of 58,000
- 2 - - 3 - tonnes of Canadian wheat was confiscated by Italian
authorities, because it had three times the allowable limit
of ochratoxins (toxic mould). Ask yourself, did we eat the
rest of that Canadian harvest here in Canada? We should be
just as much concerned how much toxic food we eat as the Italians.
In the book DANGEROUS GRAINS Dr. James Brady
M.D. writes that 75 million people in USA, and prorated 9
million in Canada, are sick right now from eating wheat products
that contain fungi. Treatment is usually with prescription
drugs instead of taking these sick people off all grain products.
If grains are fed to animals, it transfers the fungi to the
animals and the toxins stay in the body of the animals. When
we eat meat, we store the fungi in our body. Even if most
people don't show an illness initially, the accumulation of
toxins will have an effect on our health eventually. Corn
is the worst. Dr. Brady is not the first one to warn about
this as it creates many serious illnesses. Dr. Brady lists
in his book many other doctors that warned us about this huge
health hazard and nothing is being done about it. All doctors
should learn from Dr. Brady and know about grains and fungi.
Perhaps grain farmers would be offended and it is politically
too sensitive?
Here is a personal experience. My son was progressively getting
more sick and very thin from eating grain products with fungi
for 15 years until we resorted to self-help and took him off
all grain products and all drugs. He put his weight back on
and is healthy now.
Although many praise whole grains as "very good for you",
we should not eat too much of it, considering all steer breeders
have a standard procedure to feed whole grains to the steers
for four weeks to fatten them up before slaughtering. All
it takes is four weeks, I was told.
Very alkalizing foods: Avocado, broccoli,
beet greens, carrots, celery stalks, chives, cucumber, edible
gourds, fennel, garlic, grasses (wheatgrass), green beans,
green cabbage, leeks, peas, peppers, potato, radish, red beets,
red cabbage, rhubarb, salad greens, spinach, squash, sweet
potatoes, turnips, watercress, zucchini. Navy beans, soy beans,
soy nuts, soy sprouts, white beans. Buckwheat. Acidophilus
milk, banana smoothie, fresh butter, fresh buttermilk, fresh
cheese, fresh whey, raw whole milk. Apple cider vinegar, cold
pressed vegetable oils, green herbs, sea salt, table salt.
Stevia sweetener. Almond milk, fresh lemonade, fresh vegetable
juice, green tea, mint tea, soy milk, tomato juice.
Slightly alkalizing foods: Artichokes, Brussels
sprouts, cauliflower, lettuce, onions, peas, sour pickles,
tomatoes. Dried fruits such as apricots, bananas, dates, raisins.
Tofu, dried peas, lentils, kidney beans, mung beans, chickpeas
(garbanzo beans), red beans. Coconut, sour cherries, watermelon,
bananas (the riper they get, the more acidifying they become).
Grapefruit, lemons, limes. Brie, drained cheese, fresh yogurt,
fruit smoothie, pasteurized milk, provolone, slightly aged
whey, Swiss cheese, yogurt drinks.
Slightly acidifying Foods: Apples, figs,
mangos, peaches, pears, pineapples, prunes, dates. Blueberries,
cantaloupe, cranberries, gooseberries, grapes, kiwis, melons,
mulberries, nectarines, oranges, papayas, plums, raspberries,
red currants, strawberries, sweet cherries, tangerines. Barley,
brown rice, granola, millet, oatmeal, oats, quinoa, rye, spelt,
whole-grain crackers, whole-grain pasta, whole-grain bread
without yeast, whole-grain cereals. Brown rice syrup, fructose,
heat pressed vegetable oils, honey, maple syrup, pickles,
raw cane sugar, vinegar. Bass, flounder, liver, oysters, pike,
salmon, sole, trout, walleye.
Acidifying foods: Cakes, cookies, couscous,
dark bread, commercial cereals, crackers white flour, pasta
white flour, pies, semolina, sweetened granola, wheat, white
bread, white rice, yeast bread. Aged brie, aged buttermilk,
aged cheese, aged whey, aged yogurt, chocolate milk, cooked
butter, cream, dextrogyre yogurt, ultra pasteurized milk,
kefir, parmesan cheese, sweetened yogurt with fruit. Chicken,
catfish, egg yolk, halibut, mahi mahi, mussels, organ meats,
tuna, turkey Artificial sweeteners, brown sugar, processed
foods, canned foods, capers, heated oils, hydrogenated oils,
ketchup, lard, margarines, mayonnaises, molasses, mushrooms,
mustard, pickles, pimentos, white sugar. Beer, black tea,
soda pop all kinds, cocoa, commercial juices, commercial lemonade,
hot chocolate, liquor, sodas, wine.
Very acidifying foods: Beef, carp, cold cuts,
crab, herring, lamb, lobster, mackerel, pork, shrimp, veal,
whole eggs, coffee (worst). Acidity of drinks: One expert
says all soda pop soft drinks are bad for your health. Beer
is very bad because it has yeast and likely fungi from grain.
Coffee is twice as bad as soft drinks and coffee with sugar
is three times as bad. All alcoholic drinks are acidic. If
you feel you must have coffee, you should know that it makes
your body much more acidic. The coffee lobby states coffee
is not detrimental to your health. You have to make your own
decisions on that. Your body does not want or need any of
the above. When you drink these beverages, you are mainly
doing so to satisfy your taste buds. Water is best for your
body. Herbal teas or green teas are a good second choice and
have medicinal benefits as well.
Note: Some foods are both slightly acidic and slightly
alkaline. This is the reason why they may be listed under
both acidic or alkaline headings. Dry red wine may be one
of these cases and dry white wine is considered more acidic.
One glass of wine or one sweet snack will not spoil your overall
pH target as long as it is small and not consumed in excess.
Condiments and spices are not categorized,
because you are taking small amounts. Apple cider vinegar
is slightly alkaline, balsamic vinegar is more acidic and
white vinegar very acidic. Maple syrup and honey are slightly
alkaline. Stay away from sweeteners other than Stevia which
is a natural sweetener (low calories). It is most important
not to consume sugar or artificial sweetners.
